It became known about the deputies' proposal to introduce a tax on luxury cars

A group of deputies from the Fair Russia faction will submit to the State Duma a bill on the introduction of a one-time tax on the purchase of expensive vehicles. This was reported on February 18 by TASS with reference to the text of the document.

It is proposed to amend the Tax Code of the Russian Federation. The tax will affect cars worth over 20 million rubles, as well as yachts, boats, helicopters and airplanes worth over 50 million rubles. The rate will range from 1 to 4% of the purchase price, depending on the vehicle category.

The tax must be paid at a time when the property is registered or within 30 days from the date of purchase, if registration is not required. Registration will not be possible without confirmation of tax payment.

It is also proposed to introduce differentiated rates for expensive real estate: for objects worth from 350 million rubles — 3%, from 450 million — 3.5%, from 550 million — 4%.

"The implementation of the draft law will ensure additional revenues to the budgets of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and local budgets, as well as create incentives to optimize the ownership of excess real estate and ultra—expensive movable property," the explanatory note says.

Morgunova stressed that unofficial income actually deprives a person of the opportunity to repay tax, since it reduces the amount of personal income tax paid.
