Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed strengthening strategic partnership with the ambassadors of the BRICS member and partner countries accredited in Moscow. This was reported on February 17 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The intention was expressed to raise the international profile of the BRICS, to increase the coordination of its participants on key multilateral platforms," the message says.
During the meeting, topical issues on the global agenda were also discussed, with an emphasis on the inadmissibility of diluting the central role of the United Nations.
It is clarified that the need for joint efforts to improve the global governance system in order to strengthen the positions of the world's majority countries in the process of making key international decisions was emphasized.
"A thorough exchange of views took place on strengthening the strategic partnership within the framework of the Association, including in the context of the outlined priorities of India's BRICS presidency this year," the Foreign Ministry added.
On February 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the regulations on the National Committee for Business Cooperation within the framework of the BRICS. It was specified that the committee would ensure the interaction of federal executive authorities in the development of multilateral and bilateral business cooperation within the framework of the BRICS.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the BRICS countries are growing rapidly and they are able to compete with developed economies. Siluanov noted that in some developing countries, the income level of the population is higher than in countries with developed economies.
