On February 17, the State Duma (DG) at its plenary session adopted in the second and third readings a law granting combat veterans, including participants in a special military operation, the right to leave without pay for up to 35 calendar days a year. The corresponding statement is published on the website of the State Duma.

Amendments have been made to article 16 of the Federal Law "On Veterans". Citizens who were sent to perform tasks during their military service and who have special merits, as well as a number of other categories of combat veterans, will be able to receive the right to such leave.

"The State Duma continues to improve legislation based on the needs of our soldiers, officers and their loved ones. The adoption of the law will allow combat veterans to get additional days off — they will have more time to recover their strength and health," said Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma.

In his opinion, the support of ITS participants and their families continues to be the most important priority on the agenda of the State Duma.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that special attention be paid to the families of military personnel participating in their military operations, and the relevant work should be systematic. The head of state stated this during a meeting with the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Mahmud Kalimatov.
