On February 17, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova offered to send the Polish side a link to the opera Ivan Susanin in response to Warsaw's demands for reparations from Moscow.

"As a reparation, we can provide a link to the video of the opera Ivan Susanin," RBC quoted her as saying.

Mikhail Glinka's opera is based on the historical feat of Kostroma peasant Ivan Susanin, committed at the beginning of the 17th century. According to legend, the Polish detachment was heading to Kostroma in order to kill the young boyar Mikhail Romanov, who was elected to the kingdom. Susanin volunteered to be the interventionists' guide, but instead of the road to Kostroma, he led them into an impassable swamp, where he died with them, preventing an assassination attempt on the future tsar.
