A major threat to Russia's security comes from Europe's reckless and reckless policy of confrontation. This was announced on February 16 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"I am more inclined to see threats and risks in the reckless, absolutely unrestrained policy of pumping up all aspects of militarism — both material, ideological, and political, which we see today in the EU countries, in the European bureaucracy," Ryabkov told TASS.

According to him, it is European politicians who are preventing a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, assuring Kiev that Russia can be strategically defeated. In addition, they prevent the US administration from "negotiating on a reasonable basis."

Earlier on February 12, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the intentions of the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, to prepare a set of requirements for Russia and Ukraine demonstrate the EU's desire to prevent the conflict from ending. Zakharova added that the actions of Callas and the EU actually prevent Kiev from making compromises to resolve the conflict and indicate the intention of the European bureaucracy to prevent the end of hostilities by any means.

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said on February 14 that the Europeans have no arguments in favor of the participation of the European Union (EU) in negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger, said on the same day that Europe had completely withdrawn from resolving the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the leading players in the discussions on the Ukrainian issue are the Russian Federation and the United States.
