Lukashenko called Russia and China vital for the existence of Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Russia and China are vital states for his country's existence. This was reported by BelTA on February 16.

"The Chinese and Russians have always kept their doors open. Did we do something wrong? Did we do something against America? No. Everything is clear. Here is our position: Russia and China are vital states for the existence of Belarus," Lukashenko stressed.

He recalled that Western countries, including the United States, had effectively closed the door to Minsk. At the same time, Belarus has historically been oriented towards Moscow.

"There (in Russia. — Ed.) our much, if not all. Our resources are there, and our market is there, as far as the economy is concerned. We have complete unity in this regard," the president noted.

Lukashenko also said that Russia and Belarus are inextricably linked with each other and "there is no force" that can sever relations between the countries.

"There is no force that can tear Belarus away from Russia and Russia away from Belarus today. The circumstances have developed in such a way that they have bound us together, probably for many, many decades and centuries," he stressed.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 12 that the West had not abandoned the idea of "tearing" Belarus from Russia.
