Bild reported on the poisoning of several biathletes with burgers at the Olympics
German biathletes Janina Hettich-Waltz and Vanessa Vogt, as well as representative of the Czech Republic Jessica Yislova, could get food poisoning after dinner at the Olympic village. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on February 14.
According to the newspaper, Hettich-Waltz was forced to withdraw from the sprint race at the last moment due to stomach problems. Vogt went to the start, but finished only 12th, despite shooting cleanly. Yislova also skipped the sprint.
The incident occurred after the athletes ate burgers in the evening after the individual race, the newspaper reported.
As a precautionary measure, the biathletes were accommodated in separate rooms. Felix Bitterling, the sports director of the German national team, said that it was most likely about poor-quality food, and not about infection.
"We assume that they ate something stale. The problem lasted no more than a night. The medical service is confident that there is nothing serious," Bitterling said.
Earlier, on February 10, it was reported that the players of the National Hockey League (NHL) are planning to move from the Olympic village due to housing conditions. The players do not rule out the fear of an outbreak of the virus, which has already infected hockey players from the women's national teams of Finland and Switzerland.
