More than 40% of the Moscow taxi fleet is made up of cars under the age of three. The National Agency for Industrial Information (NAPI) announced this on February 16 in its Telegram channel.
So, as of the beginning of 2026, the number of cars in a Moscow taxi with a valid permit was 89.5 thousand units. Of these, 42.5% or 38 thousand units are under the age of three.
Cars aged from four to six years occupied 29.2% of the fleet (26.1 thousand units), seven to ten years — 20.5% (18.4 thousand units). In addition, according to the agency, there are cars older than 10 years in the capital's taxi fleet, they occupy a share of 7.8% (7 thousand units).
The most common cars in Moscow taxis are Kia (16.1% share), Hyundai (11.2%) and Chery (10.7%) cars. The top 10 brands also included Volkswagen and Skoda, Haval, Geely and BAIC, Belgee and Moskvich. The top ten occupies 82.5% of the Moscow taxi fleet, experts noted.
Earlier, on February 9, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the imminent publication of a list of cars to work in a taxi. The list has already been prepared and agreed with the first Deputy Chairman of the Russian government, Denis Manturov. In October last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation published a primary list of cars that meet the requirements of the law on taxi localization, which will be operational from March 2026.
At the end of December 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed amendments to the law on taxi localization. Thus, for carriers who own a car for at least six months, the deadline for entry into force of the requirements for the localization level of the vehicle is postponed to January 1, 2033. This condition applies when entering information about the car in the regional register of passenger taxis within the quota of 25% established for each region.
