The defense of the victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall intends to demand life sentences for 19 defendants during the debate on the criminal case in court. Lawyer Lyudmila Aivar announced this on February 16.

"The defense of the victims in the arguments of the parties will insist on the most severe and fair punishment for the direct perpetrators, as well as other persons involved in the terrorist act, within the limits of sanctions provided for by criminal law, up to life imprisonment," she said in an interview with TASS.

The lawyer noted that terrorism is a crime that affects the sense of security in the country. According to her, responsibility for all those involved "must be inevitable," and punishment —proportionate" to the grief caused.

Ivar also recalled that the injured party had filed civil lawsuits against the defendants. Their total amount is estimated in tens of millions of rubles. She noted that the defense's position on this issue is "pessimistic," since real recovery is almost impossible.

The court began considering the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall on the merits in August 2025. During the meeting, the defendants admitted their guilt. The participants in the trial noted that the verdict of the accused could be announced before the end of the year. Meanwhile, the victims' defense appealed to the court with a request related to the appointment of repeated and additional forensic medical examinations.

On December 10, 2025, the Second Western District Military Court announced that the prosecution had completed the presentation of evidence in the criminal case of the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert Hall.

On December 25, 2025, Lyudmila Aivar, the victims' lawyer, said that the Second Western District Military Court extended the arrest of all those accused in the case of the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow until April 7, 2026.
