The opening of a shell factory in the UK was delayed for six months
The launch of the explosives manufacturing plant at Glascoed in the UK has been postponed for six months. This was reported on February 15 by The Guardian newspaper.
"A new factory in Wales, considered crucial for ramping up UK ammunition production, remains unfinished more than six months after the scheduled start of work, adding to the string of delays plaguing the armed forces," the publication said.
According to the publication, the facility, which belongs to BAE Systems, was planned to be used for a multiple increase in the production of 155-mm artillery ammunition. It was expected that the capacity would increase production by 16 times, replenish national reserves and expand supplies to Ukraine.
BAE Systems explained that the postponement is related to the decision to double the design capacity of the enterprise. At the same time, the company did not specify exactly when the plant would be put into operation.
NBC News reported on January 22 that the European Union (EU) is discussing expanding its nuclear arsenal and developing its own weapons of this type due to US policy. One of the officials said there were discussions "on how to protect Europe with nuclear deterrence with or without the United States."
