On February 15, Dutch speed skater Femke Kok became the winner of the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy in speed skating at a distance of 500 m.

She covered the distance in 36.49 seconds, setting a new Olympic record. The silver medal was won by another representative of the Netherlands, Jutta Leerdam, who lost 0.66 seconds. The bronze medal was won by Japanese Miho Takagi, her gap was 0.78 seconds.

Cook is 25 years old. This victory was her first Olympic gold medal in her career. Earlier, at the Games in Italy, she took second place at a distance of 1 thousand meters.

Swedish biathlete Martin Ponsiluoma won gold in the 12.5 km pursuit race at the Olympic Games in Italy on February 15. With a gap of 20.6 seconds, Norwegian Sturla Holm Legrade took second place, making one miss, while Frenchman Emilien Jacquelin took bronze (+29.7 seconds, three misses).
