- Szijjarto warned about Ukraine's accession to the EU if the opposition wins in Hungary
Hungary will agree to Ukraine's admission to the European Union (EU) only if representatives of the opposition Tisa party come to power. This was announced on February 15 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"Of course, everyone knows what to expect from Tisa: a green light for Ukraine's accession to the EU. <...> Our answer is never!" he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
The minister stressed that if Ukraine is accepted into the community, representatives of this country "can take the money of the Hungarian people" and drag Budapest into the Ukrainian conflict.
On February 7, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called Ukraine an enemy of his country that violates its national interests. Commenting on the phased plan for Ukraine's admission to the EU in 2027, the politician called this initiative a declaration of war on Budapest. The Hungarian leader admitted that his European colleagues want the Tisa party to come to power, and not the Fidesz party, which is currently active.
