Ski jumper Chofenig was disqualified due to shoe size at the Olympics
Austrian athlete Daniel Chofenig was disqualified from competing on the large springboard at the Olympic Games in Italy due to non-compliance with shoe size standards. This was reported on February 14 by the French newspaper Le Figaro.
According to the newspaper, the violation was revealed after Chofenig secured passage to the finals by taking eighth place in the first round. At the same time, the athlete's buv turned out to be four millimeters longer than the established norm.
Chofenig also admitted the mistake and explained that he had used new shoes that he did not like. Despite this, he did not check their size before the competition.
On February 12, it was reported that the head coach of the Finnish national ski jumping team, Igor Medved, was suspended from the 2026 Olympics due to alcohol consumption. Medved himself apologized for his actions and wished the team a good job during the competition.
