Moscow will continue modernization of railway infrastructure
In Moscow, work continues on the reconstruction and construction of city railway stations as part of a large-scale program aimed at developing transport infrastructure. In 2025, work was completed at three key railway stations, and in 2026 it is planned to continue the construction and reconstruction of several facilities. Thus, work has been completed at Moscow railway stations.: MGV Shcherbinka (MCD-2), MGV Kurskaya (MCD-2 and MCD-4), and MGV Petrovsko-Razumovskaya (MCD-1), which are open to passengers. These facilities include new platforms, improved infrastructure, and control centers.
Work is planned for 2026 at MGV Moscow City, Sickle and Hammer, Zheleznodorozhnaya, Begovaya and Tsaritsyno stations, including platforms, lobbies and integration with the metro.
Special attention is paid to the comprehensive renovation of Leningradsky Railway Station, one of the oldest in Russia. It is planned to preserve the historical part of the building and modernize the interior spaces by increasing the number of waiting rooms, updating engineering systems and improving access to the subway. A new underpass will also be introduced, which will connect the station with other transport facilities in the city.
These changes will become part of the Moscow—St. Petersburg high-speed highway project. After the repair is completed, it is planned to start similar work at Yaroslavsky railway Station.
On January 9, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spoke about the development of one of the leaders in passenger traffic in the city. According to him, in the period from 2021 to 2025, four platforms were reconstructed at the Moscow-Passazhirskaya — Kurskaya MCD-2/MCD-4 station, as well as two new ones, one of which is already operating for passengers of the fourth central diameter.
