During the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk, Russian troops used unexpected and unknown methods of action against the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on February 15 by the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov.

"The capture of Krasnoarmeysk was the most important stage in the liberation of the entire Donbas. During the liberation of the city, the formations and units of the army took the initiative, acted competently, and chose such methods of action that were unknown to the enemy and turned out to be unexpected for him. And the personnel acted courageously and bravely," Gerasimov said while working at the command post of the Center group of forces.
