An exhibition of Chinese Yixing teapots will open at the Hermitage, including works from the collection of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. The exhibition is entitled "Isin ceramics in the collections of St. Petersburg and Moscow. XVII — the second half of the XX century" will be located in the Arap Hall of the Winter Palace.

According to TASS, the exhibition is dedicated to unique Chinese ceramics made from clays mined in the vicinity of the city of Yixing in Jiangsu Province. These materials made it possible to create teapots and cups, which were in demand in China and abroad due to the ability to retain the warmth and aroma of tea for a long time.

In addition to tea accessories, these clays were also used to make objects for the Chinese scientist's table, such as flower vessels, tobacco and incense bottles. The organizers of the exhibition emphasized that the exposition at the Hermitage reflects the features of the Isinsk clays and their unique possibilities for creating products with ornaments.

The exhibition will open on February 15 and will be open to the public until May 31, 2026.

Last September, Zakharova conducted a media tour of the exhibition "The Magic of Purple Clay: The Yixing Ceramics of Zisha." At the event, she spoke about teapots with cups that are highly accurate and functional. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also paid special attention to the hieroglyph "double joy", which adorns one of the exhibits, symbolizing happiness and well-being. The collection of the Zakharov family was presented separately at the exhibition.
