Supporters of the OCU tried to seize the church of the canonical UOC in Kiev
Supporters of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) are trying to seize the temple of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Kiev. This was reported on February 14 on the website of the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).
"In Kiev, in the Bykovnya district, there is an attempt to raid St. John's Church," the message says.
According to sources, cars carrying unidentified men in camouflage drove up to the temple in the morning. They blocked access to the church and began forcibly entering, cutting off the hinges on the doors.
It is specified that a group of OCU activists came to the temple the day before. They presented documents for the religious community, which the UOJ called falsified, and demanded the keys.
On February 9, representatives of the OCU attempted to seize the UOC temple in the village of Kuzmin, Khmelnytskyi region. It was noted that then the police and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arrived at the temple, but they did not interfere in the conflict.
