- In Russia, it was proposed to create a unified registry for the verification of health workers
The National Association of Healthcare Managers (NAUZ) has proposed creating a single open digital portal for verifying information about medical professionals. This was reported to Izvestia on February 14 by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
"A resource accessible via an Internet request or a QR code in a doctor's profile should contain a minimal but sufficient set of data to confirm legitimacy: the specialist's full name, the details of the educational document and information about the current accreditation," the agency said in a statement.
According to the Ministry of Health, the creation of a unified register will make it possible to combat people who practice medicine without the necessary education and accreditation, as well as improve the safety of medical care by minimizing the risks of allowing people with forged documents to practice. In addition, it will ensure transparency and help the patient make an informed choice before seeking medical help.
The ministry stressed that the lack of a reliable tool for patients to check the qualifications of a specialist contributes to the creation of conditions for potential harm to health, and also contradicts the principle of medical ethics.
"This will be an important step in the development of a patient—centered model, strengthen the prevention of health offenses, and help restore and strengthen citizens' trust in the medical community," the department concluded.
Sergey Fedosov, the founder of the MedRoket medical technology platform, editor-in-chief of the ProDoktorov portal, chairman of the Committee for the development of human-centered healthcare at NAUZ, a surgeon, added that creating an open resource with a minimal set of data on medical workers will make information about the education of medical workers as transparent as possible and eliminate the possibility of doctors without qualifications.
"The personal QR codes for doctors' diplomas that we offer will make our initiative as accessible as possible to patients. This will reduce social tension in the provision of medical care and prevent dozens of high-profile cases when ordinary citizens suffer significant damage to their health due to the unqualified actions of "false doctors," he concluded.
Last October, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko spoke about new trends in domestic healthcare, noting the importance of implementing national projects and moving to digital technologies. According to him, today the possibilities of healthcare are acquiring a "new sound." The minister noted that now the patient can not only be treated, but also manage their health together with the doctor, minimizing the risks of diseases or delaying their development.
