- Zelensky apologized to the Ukrainian delegation after downgrading the status of meetings with the Russian Federation
On February 13, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky apologized to the Ukrainian delegation after downgrading the status of meetings between Russia, Ukraine and the United States on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
"The team of [US President Donald] Trump pushed the Russians to trilateral negotiations on a "technical level." I apologize to my team — maybe they are here or their friends, but I said "technical level," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
A new round of negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on the settlement of the conflict will be held on February 17-18 in Geneva. Switzerland has officially confirmed its readiness to host the trilateral meeting. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Russian delegation will be led by Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On February 6, Trump announced the positive progress of negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and allowed the possibility of further events. The American leader noted that contacts with both sides are continuing.
