The State traffic Inspectorate will strengthen control over drivers in the regions over the weekend.

On Friday and next weekend, February 13-15, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the roads of the country, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.

The raids will take place in Tver, Kaluga, Ivanovo, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Penza regions, Sevastopol and other regions of the country.

The traffic police recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail disqualification for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver is already facing criminal liability.

"We remind you about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. This is a direct threat to the life and health of both drunk drivers and their passengers, as well as other road users. We kindly ask citizens who notice that a vehicle is being driven by a person in an inadequate condition to report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia prepared a draft order, which defines a list of indicators, criteria and frequency of evaluation of the effectiveness of driving schools in Russia. As clarified on February 4, the list of assessment criteria includes, among other things, the results of exams, the proportion of graduates from the total number in a particular driving school who successfully passed theory and practice on the first attempt, and the proportion of theoretical and practical exams not passed by graduates.
