The state prosecution asked to find businessman Yevgeny Chichvarkin guilty and sentenced in absentia to nine years in prison (recognized as a foreign agent, listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) in the case of spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces and evading the duties of a foreign agent. This was reported to Izvestia on February 13 by one of the participants in the trial.

According to investigators, in July 2024, Chichvarkin, while outside Russia, posted on a social network a publication containing deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces during a special military operation.

In addition, in April 2025, he published a video clip and posted comments on a video hosting site, without indicating that the materials were produced and distributed by a foreign agent.

The entrepreneur is currently on the wanted list. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against him in absentia. In addition, the prosecutor asked to ban the entrepreneur from administering websites on the Internet.

In March last year, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office requested that a criminal case be opened against Chichvarkin because of his evasion of duties as a foreign agent. On March 25, the Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow fined an entrepreneur 15,000 rubles for participating in an organization deemed undesirable in the Russian Federation. Later, on July 10, Chichvarkin was put on the wanted list under an article of the Criminal Code.

In November of the same year, a criminal case against Chichvarkin was sent to court. It was clarified that he posted a publication on one of the social networks containing deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian Army. On November 21, 2025, Chichvarkin was added to the list of terrorists and extremists.
