IOC President Coventry called the disqualification of Ukrainian Geraskevich fair.
The head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Kirsty Coventry, told reporters on February 13 that the decision to disqualify Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladislav Geraskevich was fair, as the athlete refused to follow the established rules.
"Rules are rules," TASS quoted her as saying.
According to Coventry, the rules ensure fairness and safety for all participants.
Geraskevich, who had previously stated that he and his compatriots had been warned about the inadmissibility of protest actions against Russian participants at the Olympic Games, was disqualified on February 12. IOC Communications Director Mark Adams, commenting on this news, added that what was happening was due to the incorrectly chosen place for the skeleton racer to demonstrate his position. At the same time, the very content of the message, as he added, did not play a role in the disqualification.
