Lukashenko called for more active work on the training of military personnel
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, after visiting a shooting range at a military training ground in the Minsk region, announced his intention to tighten the requirements for commanders responsible for training military personnel.
"Let them keep working. We'll see how to make your life more difficult. We're going to make life difficult for you now. So don't relax. Well, of course, we will skin the battalion commanders like men," BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying to Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin.
In turn, Khrenin admitted that the level of training of the shooters turned out to be different, stressing that a similar situation is possible in real combat conditions. The President noted that what he saw at the shooting range did not cause him satisfaction, adding that the reason for the results could be the excitement of the military.
"They shoot, they see targets. Let's assume that it's so-so. <...> They worry, of course, because the president is standing behind them. I understand that there is a certain excitement. Well, we hit it somewhere, we missed it somewhere," Lukashenko said.
Earlier, on February 10, Lukashenko instructed the country to establish its own production of running ammunition by the end of 2026. He pointed out that it is necessary to resolve the issue of providing the army with ammunition, in particular grenade launchers. The Head of State warned that the execution of this order must be completed on time.
On January 28, Volfovich also reported to Lukashenko on the progress of a large-scale check of the combat readiness of the country's armed Forces. The Head of the Republic paid special attention to the conditions of accommodation and provision of personnel in difficult weather conditions, as well as the adaptation of combat experience of modern conflicts in wooded and swampy areas.
