- Biathlete Passler, who failed a doping test, won the appeal and will speak at the Olympic Games.
Italian biathlete Rebecca Passler, who was suspended from the Olympics on charges of violating anti-doping rules, has regained her rights to participate through the Italian Anti-Doping Agency (NADO Italia). This was announced on February 13 on the website of the Italian Biathlon Federation.
"The Federation welcomes the outcome of the appeal, which allows Rebecca to return to the team's disposal," FISI President Flavio Roda said in a statement.
NADO Italia also acknowledged Passler's arguments about the unintentional ingestion of a prohibited substance. The athlete will participate in the Olympic Games, joining the team on February 16. Passler herself also thanked the lawyers and the organization for allowing her to participate in the competition. She added that now she will be able to focus on biathlon.
Passler's doping test on February 2 tested positive for letrozole before the start of the home Winter Olympic Games. It is clarified that Passler took the test out of competition.
