Russia will provide financial assistance to Cuba. This was announced on February 13 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"We certainly stand in solidarity with Cuba and will help it, including financially. This is already being done," TASS quoted him as saying.

The diplomat clarified that Russia is confident in its readiness to provide assistance. According to him, there is "the strongest pressure" from the United States, and Washington does not stop at violating international law within the framework of the updated "Monroe doctrine."

On the same day, The Economist magazine reported that the United States was considering sending a limited shipment of fuel to Cuba as humanitarian aid. According to the newspaper, we are talking about the supply of gas for cooking and diesel fuel necessary for the functioning of the water supply system.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said yesterday that external forces were trying to exacerbate the energy crisis in Cuba in order to incite public discontent. She stressed that Russian diplomats are providing Russians in Cuba with the necessary assistance to return to their homeland.
