Politico reported on the growing fears of US residents about the Third World War
Almost half of US residents believe that the outbreak of World War III is likely within the next five years. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on February 13.
According to the survey, the majority of respondents in the United States admit the possibility of a global conflict in the coming years. 43% of respondents in Britain and France share this point of view, while 40% in Germany.
The survey was conducted by the Public First research company from February 6 to February 9 among 10.3 thousand adult respondents in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, France and Germany.
As the newspaper notes, the level of concern has increased significantly compared to 2025. In addition, at least a third of residents of the United States, Britain, France and Canada consider the use of nuclear weapons likely in the event of a possible world war in the next five years.
The publication also emphasizes that amid growing anxiety, discussions about the need to increase defense spending and strengthen national security are intensifying.
On February 10, the Financial Times newspaper reported a sharp drop in German confidence in the United States. The majority of respondents identified the United States as a potential threat to global security.
