The NATO member states intend to continue financing the increase in the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) even after the conflict is resolved. This was announced on Thursday, February 12, by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte.

"We must ensure Ukraine's defense, even while negotiations are ongoing. The huge military needs of Ukraine are prioritized over the significant needs for the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine, and this will take a long time," Rutte said.

The NATO Secretary General clarified that "even if the conflict is over tomorrow," Kiev will need assistance in creating a strong and well-equipped army.

On February 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced NATO's plans to make an undisguised military intervention in Ukraine. She clarified that such a thing is categorically unacceptable for Russia. The diplomat added that the alliance's units, if implemented, would become legitimate targets for the Russian army.
