Prices for restoring the key to a modern car can easily reach 800 thousand rubles. Nikita Arkhipov, Chief Operating Officer for Rolf Services, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta on February 12.

The difficulty of key recovery depends on the solutions used in the ignition lock and copy protection, the expert said.

"As a rule, the watershed runs through 2015. All cars produced before this date will most likely not cause problems in ordering and programming the key," Nikita Arkhipov noted. According to him, there are many analogues for such machines, including the keys and equipment themselves. Restoring a key can cost from 35 thousand rubles along with the work.

Cars manufactured in 2015-2021 may already require bypassing servers by installing emulators, soldering modules, etc. Increased labor costs affect the cost — from 70 thousand rubles.

Machines released after 2021 are often programmed via a server and have more complex VIN-key-server bundles. In some cases, even ordering a key for a Russian VIN is not available, for example, for Mercedes-Benz. In this case, a duplicate key is created or the key is "sewn" into a special block, and Chinese keys are already attached to it. Prices can easily reach 800 thousand rubles for Mercedes-Benz, but on average they are around 300 thousand rubles for European brands.
