A court has sentenced a resident of Serpukhov to 12 years in prison in a terrorism case.

Sofia Lepeshkina, a 25-year-old native of Serpukhov (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the territory of the Russian Federation), was sentenced on February 11 by the second Western District Military Court to 12 years in prison in a terrorism case.

"To finally impose a sentence of 12 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony on Sofia Alexandrovna Lepeshkina," TASS reported.

It is noted that criminal cases were initiated against the defendant in accordance with Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code ("Justification of terrorism"), Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") and Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 ("Involvement in the activities of a terrorist organization").

Lepeshkina, as specified, in the spring of 2024, called on Russian citizens to subscribe to a Telegram channel belonging to a terrorist organization. The girl was acting under the pseudonym "Avdeeva Linda" at that moment.

In "Газете.ги " it was clarified that the state prosecution, as part of the debate between the parties, requested 15 years in prison for the defendant with a fine of 500 thousand rubles. However, the defendant admitted her guilt and repented of the offense, which, as reported from the courtroom, provided her with a minimum sentence.

On February 7, a Moscow court announced the arrest of an inspector at one of the capital's airports for financing terrorism. At that time, it was noted that the man placed in the pre-trial detention center (SIZO) was charged in accordance with art. 205.1, Part 1.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Financing of terrorism"), for which he could face punishment up to life imprisonment. It was clarified that the defendant, who confessed his guilt, actively cooperated with the investigation.
