Evgeny Solonovich, translator of Italian poetry, has died.

Translator from Italian, poet and professor at the Literary Institute. Evgeny Solonovich Gorky died. This was announced on February 11 on the university's website.

"Evgeny Mikhailovich Solonovich, who educated more than one generation of Italian translators at the Literary Institute and gave Russian literature the best lines of Italian poetry, has died. We grieve together with our relatives, friends and students," the message says.

The cause of death is not specified.

The staff of the Russian State Children's Library (RGDB) also expressed their condolences. They noted that Solonovich's legacy will remain a living example of skill, dedication and inspiration for future generations of writers and translators.

Solonovich was a translator, poet and teacher, commander of the Italian Order of Solidarity, winner of a number of Italian literary prizes, as well as the government prize in the field of children's and adolescent literature.
