- Veterinary clinics of Transbaikalia will pay 145 thousand rubles for the death of a corgi puppy
In Transbaikalia, a court recovered more than 145 thousand rubles in compensation from two veterinary clinics for the death of a corgi puppy. The court found that the dog's treatment was of poor quality.
The amount of compensation includes losses from substandard services, the cost of the dog, compensation for moral damage and a fine, writes IA ChitaMedia with reference to the Zabaikalsky Regional Court.
The case file says that a local resident contacted Zooservice Plus LLC to provide medical care to a 4-month-old dog. She was given a preliminary diagnosis, conducted a study, and given treatment recommendations. Two days later, the pet's owner took him to the IP Ivanov clinic. In it, the dog was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction, laparotomy was performed, but no foreign bodies were detected. The puppy died the next day.
The court ordered a veterinary examination, according to the results of which experts determined that the treatment was not carried out in full. In addition, the puppy was injected with an antimicrobial drug that is not used to help animals. According to preliminary data, the dog died from a viral infection.
The court of first instance did not satisfy the demands of the dog's owner. However, the judicial board for civil cases of the Zabaikalsky Regional Court overturned the decision to refuse to recover damages.
At the end of January, it was reported that Moscow police officers had uncovered an unusual insurance fraud. The criminal group insured and then faked the deaths of pets and vet operations for the sake of payments. The investigation believes that the scam would not have been possible without the help of someone from the insurance company.
