- Lavrov called the events in Venezuela and Cuba with Iran a sign of changes in the world.
The world is undergoing profound and lasting changes, culminating in the events in Venezuela, Cuba and Iran. This was stated on February 11 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at the government hour in the State Duma.
"The dramatic events of the beginning of this year, including the armed invasion of Venezuela by the United States, the escalation of American pressure on Cuba, attempts to destabilize the situation in Iran, the crisis over Greenland — all this you have seen and heard about it. We have confirmed our assessment that the world has entered an era of rapid and very profound changes," he said.
The Russian Foreign Minister also said that these processes reflect the rejection of old models of the international order and the transition to a new stage of global politics, where states are forced to adapt to new challenges and realities.
According to Lavrov, Russia stands in solidarity with the peoples of Venezuela and Cuba, who are under external pressure, and is ready to support their right to self-determination.
On February 5, Lavrov declared Russia's concern for the situation in the Middle East. According to him, Moscow is discussing the current escalation in the Middle East in contacts with Israel, the United States and Iran.
