- Ryabkov denied the connection between the suspension of trade with the Russian Federation and the situation in Ukraine
US attempts to link trade relations with the conflict in Ukraine are unacceptable. This was announced on February 11 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with The Indian Express newspaper, commenting on Washington's calls for other countries to stop trading with Russia.
Ryabkov stressed that Russia is conducting a special military operation aimed at protecting Russians and Russian-speaking citizens in Ukraine. He also noted that the explanation of what is happening from the point of view of the West does not correspond to the Russian perception of the situation.
"The Western understanding and explanation of what is happening has nothing to do with ours. Therefore, we reject any attempts to link one to the other and completely distance ourselves from them," he said.
According to the diplomat, Russia rejects any attempts to link trade issues with the conflict and distances itself from such approaches. He expressed hope that countries like India would understand and appreciate Russia's position.
On February 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called India's purchase of carbon from Russia mutually beneficial. According to her, it can also contribute to stability in the international energy market.
