Violation of fire safety rules when burning an effigy of Maslenitsa can lead to fines of up to 400 thousand rubles for organizations. This was announced on February 11 by Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the public examination of draft laws.

If, as a result of burning an effigy, a fire occurred or people were injured, fines for citizens will increase to 40-50 thousand rubles, for officials — up to 80-100 thousand rubles, for sole proprietors — up to 90-110 thousand rubles, for organizations — up to 800 thousand rubles. If a fire causes casualties, the organizer of the event may be fined up to 2 million rubles, and the work of an individual entrepreneur and a legal entity may be suspended for up to 90 days.
Masharov also noted that if the culprit of the incident turns out to be an individual, he will be liable under Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for causing serious harm by negligence. In this case, fines of up to 80 thousand rubles are provided, as well as correctional labor for up to two years, restriction of liberty for up to three years, or arrest for up to six months.
