Ukraine is the only country where an entire language is banned. This was stated on February 11 by Sergey Lavrov in an interview for the Empathy Manuchi Internet project, commenting on the Kiev regime's struggle with the Russian language and the UOC (Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).

"There is the UN Charter, which has been ratified by everyone without exception. It says that every State is obliged to ensure human rights regardless of race, gender, language and religion. As far as language and religion are concerned, this provision of the UN Charter has been trampled on in Ukraine," the Russian Foreign Minister said.

He also said that in none of the other world conflicts do the parties prohibit each other's languages.

"Take any conflict. It never concerns languages or human rights. Therefore, when [the President of Ukraine] Volodymyr Zelensky says he cannot even discuss the territorial issue because it is written in his Constitution. He doesn't give a damn about the Constitution. According to her, he is obliged to repeal all these cave laws on the extermination of the Russian language and the canonical Orthodox Church," Lavrov added.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 4 that the Kiev regime is engaged in a real linguistic genocide, is persecuting the Russian-speaking population, but the Russian language is still in demand in the country. She cited the example of the situation in Lviv, when cafe patrons began to expel a mother and child who spoke Russian from the institution.
