Every fourth fire in Crimea occurred due to careless handling of fire. For this reason, in particular, 44 fires occurred during smoking, the Republican Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Since the beginning of 2026, nine people have died due to an unopened cigarette. So, on the morning of February 9, information was received about a fire on Nizhnegospitalnaya Street in Simferopol. Rescuers promptly extinguished the fire of the outbuildings on an area of 24 square meters. m.

The body of the 70-year-old hostess was found on the spot. According to preliminary data, the fire was caused by carelessness while smoking, and the cause of death of the woman was poisoning by gorenje products.
