Used cars rose in price in Russia in early 2026

According to their data, the average price of a used Chinese-made car rose by 4.5% in a month, to 2.12 million rubles. The group of European, Japanese and Korean brands recorded similar growth rates — by the end of January, the indicator increased by 112 thousand and reached 2.28 million rubles. The average cost of used cars of Russian brands over the past month jumped by 5.4%, to 723 thousand rubles.

Among models with mileage no older than 15 years, the largest drop in average cost (by 3.5%) was shown in January by Haval Jolion (1.59 million rubles), Chery Tiggo 4 (1.19 million rubles) and Changan Alsvin (968 thousand rubles).

At the beginning of the year, the average cost of a used car increased in almost all regions of the Russian Federation. St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region topped the list, where growth exceeded 7%, to 2.02 million rubles. The second and third places are occupied by Tambov (961 thousand rubles) and Orenburg (1 million rubles) regions, where the average cost fell by 7.2% and 6.6%, respectively. In the capital region, the average price in January 2026 increased to 2.72 million rubles and remains the highest in the country.

Experts noted that the supply of cars with a mileage of no more than 15 years on the site decreased by 13% for foreign and domestic brands. At the federal level, there is again a noticeable increase in supply from dealers, their share reached 19% by the end of January compared to 16% in September – October. Experts also note an increase in consumer demand in January, which increased by 6% compared to December.
