Skiers from South Korea were disqualified at the Olympics for using fluoride
South Korean skiers Lee Eui-jin and Han Da-som were disqualified after qualifying for the classic sprint at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. This was reported by the Expressen newspaper.
It is noted that the athletes did not get into the top 30 and could not make it to the quarterfinals. After the finish, the organizers revealed that the skiers had used a fluoride-containing gel, which had been banned since the 2023/24 season. As a result, the results of the athletes were annulled.
Russian Daria Nepryaeva could not overcome the qualification. The 23-year-old athlete took 36th place, Sport-Express adds.
Earlier in the day, Russian short-track cyclist Ivan Posashkov failed to qualify for the 1,000 m event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Russian showed a result of 1 minute 28.64 seconds and took the fourth place. However, he was later disqualified for violating the rules of wrestling with Chinese Lin Xiaojun, who eventually became the third in the race and advanced to the next round.
