You cannot threaten or enter into disputes with phone scammers, as this may provoke revenge from them. This was announced on February 10 by Sergey Golovanov, chief expert of Kaspersky Lab.

"You need to listen to all this calmly, quietly, normally, say 'thank you for calling, I'm not interested' and hang up," he said in a conversation with Channel Five.

According to Golovanov, if you insult an attacker, he can start taking revenge by organizing so-called "SMS bombing", when hundreds of messages with codes and links arrive on the phone per minute. An attack with a large number of notifications in messengers is also possible.

The expert warns that this way the victim cannot call law enforcement agencies and ask for help, as the phone will run out faster due to the flood of messages and calls. In the event of such an attack, Golovanov advises turning off the phone, contacting a telecom operator, or temporarily taking an additional number.

"Why do you need to wait it out? Because this service is fraudulent, which allows you to do this, it costs money, and it's just very expensive for a fraudster to keep it," the expert explained.

As Golovanov pointed out, the attack will end in a couple of days and the phone can be turned on.

Alexey Karpunin, a partner at 5D Consulting, told Izvestia on the same day that on the eve of Valentine's Day, there was a predictable increase in fraud activity, while the schemes used were becoming more technological and sophisticated.

According to him, criminals are currently actively exploiting romantic themes. They create fake accounts on dating sites using artificial intelligence tools, generate realistic photos and voice messages, and simulate the operation of online flower shops.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
