Sales of Great Wall pickups fell by 48% in Russia
According to the results of last year, the market for new pickups in Russia decreased by 25% compared to 2024 (to 22 thousand units), sales of Great Wall decreased the most among the leading brands - by 48%. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on February 10.
"Great Wall, which once even topped the pickup truck segment, can be considered an outsider. Foton is also doing poorly in January (-73%), which "shot up" last year (+103%)," Tselikov said.
The Chinese JAC remains the leader in the pickup truck market with a result of 5,000 pickups, its sales decreased by 17%. Great Wall is in second place, followed by Russian Sollers (2.7 thousand units; -11%). Next are UAZ (2.5 thousand units; -39%) and Changan (1.2 thousand units; -31%). RAM (1.9 thousand units) and Foton (1.5 thousand units) rounded out the brand rating, with sales increasing by 17% and 103%, respectively.
The analyst noted that the overall decline in the car market was 16% last year and 9.5% in January. The market share of the pickup segment decreased to 1.6%, although it was approaching 3% in 2024.
In January 2026, sales of new pickups in the Russian Federation decreased by 30% compared to January last year, the expert estimated. JAC is the leader in the brand rating, followed by Sollers, UAZ and Changan, as well as RAM, Great Wall and Foton. Everyone except RAM is experiencing a drop in sales.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that sales of the new Chinese Foton Tunland G9 pickup truck had started in Russia. It is equipped with a two-liter turbodiesel engine with a capacity of 162 hp in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission ZF. The model has an automatic all-wheel drive with a downshift and a rear differential lock. The pickup truck can tow trailers weighing up to 3 tons, including motorhomes.
