Lawyer Hofstein called Padva a knight of the bar and a guardian angel.

Honored Lawyer of Russia Genrikh Padva was convinced that service to society should be based on the principles of justice. This was stated to Izvestia on February 10 by his colleague, lawyer Alexander Hofstein.

"I always knew that I was working next to a knight advocate, for whom the idea of justice in every case went beyond this case. He always understood that the work of a lawyer who seeks a fair decision against his client is always a service not only to this client, but also to society," Hofstein stressed.

He added that Padva sought to convey to his students the principle of service to society through every legal case, which became the motto of his professional activity.

According to Hofstein, their friendship and professional partnership have been tested for strength and dedication. The lawyer noted that he had worked hand in hand with Padva for decades, starting with his student practice.

"He was a great man. He was a great lawyer. He was a great citizen. And he was a great friend. Everyone who was gifted with his friendship felt that there was more than just a friend in his life, there was a guardian angel," said Hofstein.

The lawyer died at the age of 95.

Padva's death became known on the same day. His clients included businessman Alisher Usmanov, former Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, as well as actor Vladislav Galkin and many other famous personalities. The lawyer's wife, in turn, said that the cause of Padva's death was a stroke.

Later it became known that the farewell to Padva would take place on February 12 at 12:00 Moscow time in the funeral hall at Marshal Timoshenko St., 25.

Yuri Pilipenko, ex-president of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers (FPA), called Padva an outstanding lawyer, about whom only the kindest words can be said. The current head of the FPA, Svetlana Volodina, in turn, noted that the scale of Padva's personality was so great that after his departure, colleagues massively sent condolences to the entire Russian legal profession.
