The damage in the criminal case of the ex-vice-governor of the Bryansk region Nikolai Simonenko exceeded 1 billion rubles. This was reported by law enforcement agencies on February 10.

"The amount of embezzlement in the framework of a criminal case on abuse of official authority during the construction of fortifications in the Bryansk region exceeded 1 billion rubles," TASS quoted law enforcement agencies as saying.

Earlier, on September 17, it was reported that Symonenko's property was seized as part of a case of abuse of office during the construction of fortifications in the region. According to the investigation, the property of other defendants in the case was also seized.

Symonenko was detained on July 22. On the same day, he was searched. Later, on July 24, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for two months for Simonenko.
