On February 10, Russian tourist Sergei shared with Izvestia the details of the situation in Havana, where flight delays have occurred in recent days due to fuel shortages.

His flight was originally scheduled for 9:00 (17:00 Moscow time), but his departure was postponed first to 11:00 (19:00 Moscow time), and then to 19:00 (03:00 Moscow time). Passengers received vouchers for meals due to the delay. Sergey noted that there are problems with the Internet connection at the airport, as well as frequent power outages. To connect to the Internet, tourists have to buy special cards for using Wi-Fi at the airport.

"The Internet is very weak. Electricity is constantly cut off. There are long queues at gas stations — people with large cans are collecting gasoline and gas in reserve," the tourist said.

According to him, gas cylinders are used in hotels only in exceptional cases. Tourists are allowed to cook outside using charcoal or firewood.

The Efe news agency reported on February 9 that the Cuban authorities, amid the escalating energy crisis, notified air carriers of an imminent shortage of aviation fuel. It was noted that the country's fuel reserves for aircraft could run out within 24 hours. Jet A—1 aviation fuel will be unavailable at nine international airports in Cuba for a month, from February 10 to March 11.

On February 9, the Russian Embassy and Consulate General in Cuba announced that they were constantly cooperating with Russian tour operators and local aviation authorities amid an emergency fuel situation. It was noted that in order to save resources, some tourists were relocated from the originally booked hotels to other hotels.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
