Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on February 9 that a brutal forced mobilization has been carried out in Ukraine for several years.

"There is an open manhunt on the streets of Ukraine. A brutal forced mobilization has been carried out in the country for several years," he said at a press conference with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili.

Szijjarto also recalled that videos often appear on the Internet of Ukrainian men being beaten and forcibly recruited into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) right on the street. He stated the need to include those responsible for the forced mobilization of people in the sanctions list.

Szijjarto said on February 9 that Hungary had not supplied weapons to Ukraine and maintained a neutral position in the conflict. According to him, it is clear to the Hungarian authorities that the longer the conflict continues, the more suffering and loss of life.
