- Sobyanin spoke about Moscow's participation in the modernization of the Central Transport Hub.
Moscow participates in the modernization projects of the Central Transport Hub (CTU). The capital, in particular, is solving the task of updating the rolling stock, said Mayor Sergei Sobyanin at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin. His words are quoted by the portal mos.ru .
"We completed the design last year, and this year, together with Russian Railways, we will start a specific reconstruction. In parallel, the rolling stock began to be updated. The first new trains appeared in the Yaroslavl direction, and then, as these routes are reconstructed, we will purchase trains for other directions," Sobyanin said.
By 2030, 92 trains, including the most modern Ivolga 4.0 trains, are planned to be delivered to the Yaroslavl suburban train fleet. Trains are also being replaced on routes connecting Moscow with Kaluga, Tula and other nearby regions. The project is designed until 2035 and provides for the purchase of about 100 modern trains.
CTU is the largest railway hub in the country, covering 11 regions of the Russian Federation. These regions account for almost 75% of all suburban rail traffic in Russia. The principle of a clock schedule will be introduced on routes gradually until 2035. This will make it easier for passengers to plan trips.
