A significant change in the temperature regime is expected in Moscow this week, the first thaw will be accompanied by precipitation in the form of snow and rain, but it will be short-lived. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, reported this on Monday, February 9.

The forecaster noted that at the beginning of the week the weather will be determined by the area of high atmospheric pressure, and on Tuesday the weather is expected to be without significant precipitation.

"It will be freezing at night: it's 13 in Moscow...-15 degrees, up to -18 degrees in the region. The daytime temperature in the city will be -8...-10 degrees. By region -8...-13 degrees. Atmospheric pressure will drop on Wednesday. There will be light snowfall at times during the day. The night will be even more frosty -16...-18 degrees," Pozdnyakova told the Moscow City News agency, adding that the daytime temperature in the region would be -15...-20 degrees, in Moscow -7 degrees...-9 degrees.

The specialist added that on Thursday, February 12, atmospheric pressure will continue to decrease.

"The weather will be cloudy and it will snow at times. That is, about 2-5 cm of snow will fall in a day. The minimum temperature in Moscow will be slightly higher than the day before: -7...-12 degrees. The daytime temperature will be -1...-6 degrees. <...> Precipitation in the form of rain and sleet is expected at times on Friday night and in the afternoon. The prevailing temperature at night will be -1...-6 degrees, daytime -3 degrees...+2 degrees," Pozdnyakova said.

Thus, the first thaw this year is expected on Friday, it will be short-lived. The second half of February will begin with a decrease in temperature.
