Politico reported on the beginning of the week of crisis diplomacy in Europe
The leaders of the European Union (EU) are preparing for a series of high-level crisis diplomacy meetings. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on February 9.
"The purpose of these meetings is to figure out how to make Europe a strong global player in an increasingly ruthless world. This means increasing the EU's economic competitiveness, reducing dependence on the United States and helping Ukraine in the conflict," the article says.
The authors of the article specify that the meetings will take place all over Europe: from a castle in the countryside in Brussels to a security conference in Munich.
On February 8, Russian Ambassador to Belgium Denis Gonchar said that many EU countries had chosen the path of dictating and politicizing the international agenda instead of a rational and multilateral approach to diplomacy. He noted that diplomacy presupposes a willingness to seek a compromise, to "listen and hear" an international partner, and the ability to perceive the position and arguments of the other side, even if they disagree with it.
