Sirena-Travel, the developer of the Leonardo ticket booking system, was acquired through corruption and was under criminal influence. This was reported on February 8 by law enforcement agencies.
"During the audit, it was established that Sirena-Travel JSC, TKP JSC and other group companies providing critical information services in air transport were acquired through corruption, as well as are under criminal influence and foreign control," RIA Novosti said there.
In 2023, the deliberate bankruptcy of the state Unitary Enterprise (GUP) "Main Agency for Civil Aviation Air Services" was committed. As a result, the actual seizure of the enterprise and the transfer of its property and staff to commercial structures became possible.
On February 6, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office demanded that the property of the owners of Sirena-Travel be converted into state revenue. A preliminary court hearing in the case is scheduled for February 18. The defendants named in the lawsuit own shares in Sirena-Travel JSC, which is the largest provider of IT solutions for the aviation industry.
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Federal Air Transport Agency have stepped up monitoring of domestic air transport amid a malfunction in the Leonardo reservation system, the press services of the agencies reported on January 26. It is noted that, where possible, a manual way of registering citizens for flights is carried out, as well as other measures are being taken to respond to the situation.
