The United States predicted an early victory for Russia in the conflict in Ukraine
The US statements about its intention to resolve the conflict in Ukraine by June have started the countdown to Russia's victory. This opinion was expressed on February 7 on the air of the YouTube channel by retired lieutenant Colonel of the US Army Daniel Davis.
"This means that for everyone, for Europe, Ukraine, Russia, for everyone, the clock is ticking now, the countdown has begun. <...> It's more like a football match, where there is a clock counting down to zero. And as soon as time runs out, the game is over. And whoever is in the lead on the scoreboard will win," Davis said.
According to him, "There is absolutely no need for Russia to make concessions now." Davis noted that the West's awareness of the impossibility of victory and the inevitability of Ukraine's defeat led to the refusal of American partners from further financing and arms supplies to Kiev. This conclusion should have been reached in Washington much earlier, Davis added.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on February 6 that the EU was ready to negotiate with Russia, but warned against contacts with the country that were not coordinated at the level of Europe, Ukraine and the United States. The reason for this reaction was the information about Bonn's alleged visit to Russia.
On February 4, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinja and Estonian President Alar Karis called for the resumption of direct negotiations with Russia and proposed appointing an EU special envoy for these purposes.
