British freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy will not be punished for a political post on social media published during the 2026 Winter Olympics. This is reported by The Guardian with reference to a representative of the International Olympic Committee.

"During the Olympic Games, all participants have the opportunity to express their views in accordance with the guidelines for the expression of athletes' opinions. The IOC does not regulate personal posts on social media," said an IOC media relations official.

Kenworthy's post criticized the US Migration Service and called on senators to tighten control over its activities. The athlete wrote: "Innocent people have been killed, and that's enough. We cannot stand idly by while ICE continues to operate unchecked in our communities."

He also urged subscribers to appeal to senators to "remove ICE and CBP from our communities," stop funding them, and limit the power to make arrests without a warrant.

On February 4, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to expand the program to tighten control over illegal migration to five more American cities. He noted that the authorities consider such measures only with the consent of local administrations. According to the American leader, resistance from activists may become an obstacle to the implementation of the program.
